Prescriptions
Always bring a list of or the bottles of any medications, including over-the-counter medicines and herbal supplements, you are taking to your visit. Be sure to ask for prescription refills while you are at WMed Health so you do not run out of medication. If you call later for refills, it may take three business days to get the prescription. We will send your prescriptions to your pharmacy electronically. We do not prescribe new medicine, antibiotics or pain medicine over the phone. We need to see you in the practice before ordering these medications. You can request a prescription refill using your MyChart account.
If you receive care from a provider outside our practice, please inform us if that provider has prescribed you with new medications. Your doctor or nurse will verify your current medications with you at each visit. You will also receive an updated list of medications at the end of each visit.
Referrals and Authorizations
Our Referrals Department works closely with your primary care doctor to ensure efficient and timely medical appointments for your care. We will assist in scheduling services with other health care providers and will assist your doctor with authorization for services, when required by your insurance.
To ensure maximum usage of your benefits, please know that some insurance plans may require you to have a visit with your primary care before seeing a specialist. If you need a referral or authorization from outside the WMed Health network, please schedule an appointment with your primary care doctor first. This may prevent you from incurring additional out-of-pocket costs.

A referral by a healthcare provider is required. To refer, call 269.337.6289 or fax 269.337.6547. To make a referral in Epic, “Add Order” at the bottom right of the progress note or within the Meds and Orders section, search for the word “referral” and the Epic referral name.
