Pediatric Pulmonology

At WMed Health, we provide comprehensive care for infants, children and adolescents with respiratory tract problems. Services we provide include treatment of asthma, vocal cord dysfunction, Cystic Fibrosis in children and adults, primary ciliary dyskinesia, apnea of prematurity/apnea of infancy, croup, bronchiolitis, chronic lung disease of prematurity/Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia, home ventilator dependent children, GERD-related diseases in children, chest wall deformities, congenital airways and lung abnormalities, lung hypoplasia, neuromuscular disorders and interstitial lung diseases.

Cystic Fibrosis Program

We have a multidisciplinary cystic fibrosis program accredited by the cystic fibrosis foundation. Our program specializes in the care for children and adults with cystic fibrosis. The cystic fibrosis program also extends through a transitional clinic for adult patients. our team include a pediatric pulmonologist, nurse coordinators, a nutritionist, a respiratory therapist, a social worker, a psychologist, a pharmacist, and pharmacy technician.

Severe Asthma Program

Our multidisciplinary severe asthma program team consist of a pediatric pulmonologist, a pharmacist, a nurse coordinator, a nutritionist, a respiratory therapist, and a social worker.

Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia Program (BPD) or Chronic Lung Disease

Our BPD Program provides pulmonary-focused care for children with bronchopulmonary dysplasia, also known as chronic lung disease of prematurity. Our outpatient multidisciplinary team includes a pediatric pulmonologist, pharmacist, nurse coordinator, nutritionist, respiratory therapist, and social worker. Our experienced team will assist in the management of oxygen therapy, diuretics and breathing treatment which is often needed for infants and children with chronic lung disease. It is our goal to partner with our young patient's families to improve their quality of life in every way that we can.

Pediatric Home Ventilator Program

We provide care for children with tracheostomies, home ventilators, as well as non-invasive ventilation such as BIPAP or AVAPS. Our comprehensive program includes individualize patient care and the services in order to provide exceptional care to children with chronic ventilator needs. We link our outpatient care with the patient's inpatient care needs. Our multidisciplinary team is trained and committed to provide the highest quality care to mechanically ventilated patients and their families. Our multidisciplinary home ventilator program team consists of a pediatric pulmonologist, pharmacist, nurse coordinator, respiratory therapist, social worker, and nutritionist.

Sleep Program

Our pediatric sleep program helps in diagnosis of infants and children with sleep disorders include:

  • Snoring and obstructive sleep apnea
  • Central sleep apnea
  • Insomnia
  • Narcolepsy
  • Night terrors, sleep walking and nightmares
  • Daytime sleepiness/fatigue
  • Periodic limb movements/restless leg syndrome

Our Location

WMed Health Pediatric Pulmonology is located at 1000 Oakland Drive on the 1st floor in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Parking is available adjacent to the building. Our practice is a non-smoking environment. We strive to provide a clean environment for our patients.

Fees and Insurance

WMed Health Pediatric Pulmonology participates with many insurance providers, including Medicaid and Medicaid Health Plans. Before you first visit, check with your insurance company to understand what services will be paid for by your insurance plan. For every appointment, you will need to bring your insurance card(s). Co-pays are due at the time of service and accepted forms of payment are cash, check, MasterCard, Visa, and Discover. If you have questions, our patient financial counselors we are ready to help you. Referrals

A referral by a healthcare provider is required. To refer, call 269.337.6289 or fax 269.337.6547. To make a referral in Epic, "Add Order" at the bottom of the right of the progress note or within the Meds and Orders section, search for the word "referral" and the Epic referral name WMed Pediatric Pulmonology.
