The MD Class of 2026 and students from the Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences degree program at WMU Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine (WMed) will be honored in May during a commencement ceremony at WMU’s Miller Auditorium.
The ceremony is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 7, 2026. This is a free event and tickets are not required.
“We are thrilled to celebrate our outstanding graduates alongside their supporters, near and far.” said Alex Carlson, director of Student Life and Well-Being at WMed. “Commencement is a joyful opportunity to honor our students’ achievements and cheer them on as they move into their next great adventure.”
The ceremony will feature remarks from J. Adrian Tyndall, MD, MPH, FACEP, the Hal B. Jenson, MD Dean, President and CEO of WMed, as well as Maria Sheakley, PhD, associate dean of Student Affairs, and fourth-year student Chidambaram Nachiappan.
The commencement address will be delivered by Burton W. Lee, MD, head of Medical Education and Global Critical Care in the Medicine Department at the National Institutes of Health.
Following the commencement ceremony, attendees are invited to a reception in the Miller Auditorium lobby to cap off what will be a momentous day for the medical school, our students, their families, and the community.
