When guests gather in May for WMed Live: A First Decade Celebration, they will be treated to a hybrid event – both live and virtual – that will feature several special guests, performances by talented medical students, and a keynote address from David J. Skorton, MD, president and CEO of the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC).

The festivities will mark the medical school’s 10-year anniversary and the retirement of Founding Dean Hal B. Jenson MD, MBA. As one of the newer medical schools in the U.S., WMed has achieved tremendous success during its first decade due to the leadership of Dr. Jenson, the commitment of all faculty and employees, and active engagement of a broad base of community donors.

WMed Live will take place on Thursday, May 27, from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m.  WMed leaders, along with distinguished co-hosts Mr. Bill Johnston and Mrs. Ronda Stryker and Mr. Bill and Mrs. Barbara Parfet, invite the community to participate in this historic event and celebrate the first decade of accomplishments. Registration is free, but sponsorship opportunities are still available.

Supporters of WMed Live will play a vital role in helping the medical school continue its mission to educate future physicians, provide excellent patient care, and add value to the quality of life in Kalamazoo.

All gifts will be made in honor of Dr. Jenson to The WMed Next Decade Fund, which will support initiatives like the school’s educational pipeline programs, the COVID-19 Response Fund, student medical research opportunities, and general scholarship funds as well as programs to build a diverse and inclusive environment that will serve the medical needs of the community.

WMed Live will set the stage for sponsors to expand visibility in Southwest Michigan and connect with other renowned community leaders to support the mission of the medical school for the future. To register and learn more about how to support this event, please visit https://wmed.edu/WMedLive2021.
