Research and Scholarly Activity

The Department of Family and Community Medicine has an active research program that seeks to provide ample opportunities for our students, resident physicians and faculty to participate together in research and scholarly activities. We offer experiences that invite discovery and promote creativity. We are committed to pursuing inquiry, disseminating knowledge, and fostering critical thinking that fosters lifelong learning.  We require residents to participate in an annual quality improvement project as well as submit one research project during training.

Our curriculum includes the principles of research design, methodology, biostatistics and analysis, and the ethical principles of clinical and translational research. Our faculty provide research mentorship and collaborate with faculty in other departments and programs. We are supported by a state of the art medical library, expert research librarians and a research department that includes biostatisticians who work with residents to excellent analysis of data.
