In our program, you will gain a breadth of experience to prepare you for your work as a Family Medicine physician. Together, we offer a curriculum that seeks to equip our resident physicians with the necessary skills to provide compassionate and quality patient care.

Orientation

  • First block of residency

    • Experience for yourself limitations in many of the Social Determinants of Health 
  • Opportunity to work on the inpatient service with a limited caseload

  • Review of common conditions in Family Medicine
  • BLS, ACLS, PALS and NRP

  • Behavioral Health
    • One-on-one instruction with our behavioral psychologist 
    • Agenda-setting, communication, motivational interviewing and more
  • Continuity Clinic
    • Located in WMed Health's Family Medicine practice at 555 Crosstown Parkway in Kalamazoo
    • PGY1: 2 half days per week
    • PGY2: 3 half days per week
    • PGY3: 5 half days per week
  • Didactics
    • 4+ Hours Didactics per Week

    • Manage antenatal and postpartum patients in the inpatient and outpatient settings
    • Manage intrapartum care, including inductions
