The Dean's Circle Leadership Giving Society

Dean's Circle Leadership Giving Society LogoThe Dean's Circle Leadership Giving Society recognizes a special group of donors who step forward each year as leaders in supporting the mission of the WMU Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine. Members of the Dean’s Circle annually make a gift at one of five leadership giving levels to support the Dean’s vision for the medical school, to provide enhanced educational opportunities for WMed students and medical residents and to advance the overall mission of the medical school.

Financial support from the Dean’s Circle members is used to provide enhanced educational opportunities for medical students and residents that otherwise would not be possible. These leadership gifts also allow the dean to fund strategic priorities like the following:

  • The Dean's Innovation Fund
Financial support from Dean’s Circle donors allows the Dean to carefully select projects that contribute to the strategic priorities of the medical school and contribute to the national distinction of WMed.
  • Online Textbooks
After tuition, one of the greatest needs medical students have are the fees for their online textbooks. These fees typically cost $500 or more per semester.
  • Simulated Patient Experiences
Donor support helps to provide the latest in simulated patient treatment training and simulated clinical facilities to ensure WMed students and medical residents are well prepared for their actual clinical work.
  • Educational Pipeline Programs
Educational pipeline programs create a pathway to engage students underrepresented in medicine and healthcare at the elementary, middle school, high school, undergraduate and graduate levels to careers in health care and medicine.
  • Research and Research Travel Funds
One of the great opportunities medical students and medical residents have at WMed is the opportunity to conduct medical research under the supervision of WMed faculty. WMed Fund donors assists with research project costs and funds to travel to regional and/or national professional association meetings to present their research.
  • Student Wellness Programs
Medical studies and residency programs are highly demanding and have the potential to be stress inducing. The WMed Fund helps cover costs associated with wellness initiatives that assist medical students and residents in maintaining a healthy lifestyle during their medical studies and residency experiences.
  • Support for Equipment and Instrumentation
Providing medical students and medical residents with state-of-the-art equipment and instrumentation is vital to having them enter the medical field trained on the latest medical advances. Donations help WMed stay current in the purchase of new medical equipment and instrumentation for the education of our students and residents.
  • Student Tutoring Services
