2018 HeART of WMed
Students perform at the 2nd Annual HeART of WMed in 2018.

The artistic talents of students, faculty, residents and staff from the medical school will be on display during the 3rd Annual HeART of WMed art showcase on Friday, March 1, 2019.

The art showcase is open to the public and will coincide with the monthly Kalamazoo Art Hop. The event is scheduled for 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the medical school’s educational facility on the W.E. Upjohn M.D. Campus. The student-led event features the artistic talents of the medical school community with visual art on display and live performances by students, faculty, residents, and staff.

The 2nd Annual HeART of WMed art showcase in 2018 attracted a large crowd to the W.E. Upjohn M.D. Campus. The event featured visual pieces from 17 artists, as well as more than a dozen performances showcasing great music, dance, poetry and comedy.

Doors for this year’s event will open at 6:00 p.m. for self-guided tours of the art displays on the first and second floors of the W.E. Upjohn M.D. Campus. At 6:30 p.m., there will be a brief dedication ceremony for a new body donor memorial tree that was created by local artists from Glass Art Kalamazoo. Each piece of glass used to construct the large tree is engraved with the name of a donor serving as a constant reminder of the individual’s selfless gift to the Body Donation Program at the medical school. Light refreshments will be available.

The live performances for HeART of WMed will begin at 7:00 p.m. in the William D. Johnston and Ronda E. Stryker Auditorium.

While the art showcase is free and no RSVP or tickets are required, students will be accepting monetary donations or canned food items. All proceeds will be donated to a local Kalamazoo non-profit organization.
