Applicant and Interview Process

Together, we participate in the National Residency Matching Program (NRMP) and applications are accepted exclusively through ERAS (Electronic Residency Application Service). Paper applications will not be accepted. The interview scheduling process will take place through Thalamus.

Requirements

  • USMLE Step 1 score over 210
  • If Step 2 is completed, score over 220
  • Three letters of recommendation
  • While we are participating in Altus Suite for the 2023-2024 admissions cycle, it is not required for applicants to be considered.

International Medical Graduates

At WMed, we do not require ECFMG Certification to apply, but you must obtain certification before beginning residency. The sponsorship of J-1 visas is considered on a case-by-case basis.

Answers to Common Questions

The application deadline is October 1, 2023 for the class entering in 2024. All applications must be complete at the time of submission; incomplete applications will not be reviewed.

All applications submitted are reviewed for their individual merit. All invitations are offered via Thalamus.

Once your interview is scheduled, you will receive an email with more information with details on what you can expect on interview day. Generally, applicants will have 4-6 individual interviews with faculty and residents during their visit. Invited applicants will also have the opportunity to attend a virtual event the evening before interview day with the residents.

Diversity

Our department strives to create a learning environment that values diversity and inclusion for the residency program, to provide services to all patients in the community, and achieve excellence in health equity. We recognize that this work is ongoing and that there is no “finish line.” This is why we are committed to making all of our residents to feel they are seen, heard, and valued within our culture that embodies belonging as central to diversity, inclusion, and equity.
