Biosketch
Dr. Calvin Abro is a hematology oncology physician. He is a graduate of Michigan State University College of Human Medicine. Dr. Abro did a residency in internal medicine at Michigan State University Sparrow Hospital and a fellowship in hematology oncology at Southern Illinois University. He chose a career in hematology and oncology during medical school after discovering how wide-reaching and constantly evolving the field is. He enjoys that there’s always something new to learn, and he’s driven by a desire to help others and be part of the ongoing effort to improve and preserve life. Though he is experienced in treating a wide range of cancers and blood disorders, he has a special interest in GI cancers, breast cancer, central nervous system tumors, lymphomas, chronic leukemias and many benign blood conditions. For Dr. Abro, one of the most rewarding parts of his job is helping patients understand their diagnosis and giving them a clear plan for what comes next. Outside of medicine, Dr. Abro enjoys experimenting with new recipes, reading, fishing and spending quality time with his family and friends.
