The medical school recently welcomed three new faculty members to its departments of Medicine, Psychiatry, and Surgical Sciences.
Hend Talia, MD, joined the medical school on June 1 as an assistant professor in the Department of Psychiatry. Dr. Talia is an alumnus of Wayne State University where she earned her bachelor's degree in chemistry in 2003.
Dr. Talia earned her MD degree from American University of Antigua School of Medicine in 2012 and completed her psychiatry residency at Creighton University in 2016. She is a member of the American Psychiatric Association.
Meanwhile, Anca Andrei, MD, began her new role at WMed on July 1 as an assistant professor of Infectious Diseases in the Department of Medicine. Dr. Andrei earned her MD degree in 1998 from Carol Davila University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Bucharest, Romania, and completed her internal medicine residency in 2004 at Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch, New Jersey.
After residency, Dr. Andrei completed a two-year infectious disease fellowship at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak. She is board certified in internal medicine and infectious disease and a member of the American College of Physicians, the Infectious Disease Society of America, and the Michigan State Medical Society.
In addition to Drs. Talia and Andrei, the medical school also welcomed Katherine Davis, MD, MPH, on July 1 as an assistant professor and assistant residency program director for the Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency Program in the Department of Surgical Sciences.
Dr. Davis is an alumnus of the University of North Carolina where she earned a bachelor’s degree in biology in 2015. Dr. Davis earned her Master of Public Health degree from the University of North Carolina Gillings School of Global Public Health in 2019 and her MD degree from the University of North Carolina School of Medicine in 2020.
After medical school, Dr. Davis completed her obstetrics and gynecology residency training at Maine Medical Center in Portland, Maine. Dr. Davis is a member of several professional societies, including the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, the Society for Academic Specialists in General Obstetrics and Gynecology, and the American Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology.
