WMed welcomes Carolina Vogel, DO, to the Department of Family and Community Medicine

The medical school recently welcomed a new faculty member to the Department of Family and Community Medicine.

Carolina Vogel, DO, began her new role as an assistant professor on October 27. She is also providing family medicine care to patients at the WMed Health Family Medicine-Crosstown Parkway clinic.

Dr. Vogel graduated from Purdue University in 2017 with a bachelor of science degree in biology. In 2021, she earned her DO degree from Marian University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Indiana. 

After medical school, Dr. Vogel remained in Indiana where she completed her residency training with the Franciscan Health Family Medicine residency program with a focus on obstetrics care. During her final year of training, Dr. Vogel also completed a one-year faculty development fellowship at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Before joining the faculty at WMed, Dr. Vogel served as a medical staff physician and assistant clinical professor at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF).  

Dr. Vogel is the recipient of several awards, including being named in 2024 as Resident Teacher of the Year and Resident Researcher of the Year. She is also certified as a provider in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), and Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics (ALSO). Dr. Vogel is also a certified ALSO instructor.

Dr. Vogel is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP). the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine (STFM), and the Osteopathic Physician and Surgeons of California. She has also authored several research publications and presentations.
