Biosketch

Dr. Sarah Zitkus earned her Doctor of Medicine (MD) from the American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine in December 2024. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Chemistry from Aurora University, where she graduated in 2018. Dr. Zitkus will begin her Internal Medicine residency at Western Michigan University on July 1, 2025. During medical school, she actively contributed to research in both cardiology and obstetrics/gynecology, assisting in the publication of literature reviews that reflect her strong clinical interests. Prior to beginning medical school in 2020, Dr. Zitkus gained hands-on patient care experience as a certified nursing assistant at Delnor Hospital in Geneva, Illinois, and worked in clinical research as a research assistant at Biofortis in Addison, Illinois. Dr. Zitkus is particularly interested in pursuing research throughout her residency and is considering fellowship training following the completion of her internal medicine residency.
