Dr. Rachel Wasserman is a licensed Clinical Psychologist with a specialization in serving children, adolescents, and young adults. Dr. Wasserman obtained her bachelor’s degree from Illinois Institute of Technology and her PhD in Clinical Psychology from Loyola University Chicago. She completed her residency and NIH funded post-doctoral fellowship in pediatric health psychology at Baylor College of Medicine/ Texas Children’s Hospital. As a behavioral scientist, Dr. Wasserman applies psychosocial factors salient to adolescence and emerging adulthood, such as cognitive and social development, to develop novel measures and behavioral interventions that aim to reduce the emotional burdens of living with a chronic medical condition and prevent or reduce unhealthy risk-taking behaviors (e.g., alcohol use). Dr. Wasserman has secured funding from the American Diabetes Association, the Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund, Helmsley Charitable Trust, and the Society of Pediatric Psychology to support this line of research.
