Biosketch

Summer Samir Chahin, Ph.D. is a licensed clinical psychologist who earned her undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral degrees in Clinical Psychology from Western Michigan University. She completed her pre-doctoral internship at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, with a specialized focus on pediatric psychology through the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital Track. She then completed her post-doctoral fellowship at C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital/Michigan Medicine, where she further developed her expertise in pediatric behavioral health. Dr. Chahin’s clinical, teaching, and research interests include pediatric oncology, somatic symptom and related disorders, sleep disorders, and integrated behavioral health, and the impact of racial and health disparities on patient outcomes. She is particularly passionate about the role of social determinants of health in shaping physical and mental health across the lifespan and incorporates this lens into both her clinical work and academic initiatives. Additionally, she is committed to advancing training, medical education, and professional development, with an emphasis on culturally responsive care and interprofessional collaboration.
