Biosketch

Julie Bourbonnais, MD, is a critical care physician practicing at Bronson Methodist Hospital. She is a graduate of Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. She earned her medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine. She also completed her residency and fellowship training programs through the Wayne State University School of Medicine/Detroit Medical Center programs in the areas of internal medicine and pulmonary/critical care respectively. After completion of training, she remained on faculty as an assistant professor at Wayne State/DMC for 2 years before moving to western Michigan to explore other opportunities. Dr. Bourbonnais practiced in Grand Rapids for ten years where she provided training to students affiliated with Michigan State University College of Human Medicine and residents both at Metro Health Hospital and Mercy Health St. Mary's Hospital. She is currently involved in the training of Weestern Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine residents in the internal medicine, family medicine, and emergency medicine programs during their medical ICU rotations at Bronson Methodist Hospital. Her clinical, teaching, and research interests include medical education in critical care and procedural training in critical care as well as a special interest in end-of-life/palliative care conversations.
