Jami Knox, MD is a pediatrician. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in secondary education in 1988 from Ferris state University, with a major in chemistry and a minor in biology. She did long term substitute teaching in organic chemistry and physics while studying for a short time and subsequently decided to apply to medical school. She worked at the Michigan Cancer Foundation in tumor immunology research and flow cytometry while studying for the MCAT and applying to medical school. She graduated from Michigan State University College of Human Medicine in 1997 and completed her residency in pediatrics at MSU and Sparrow. She worked in a combined academic and clinical position at Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine and then went on to open a private pediatric practice. In 2009 she moved to Kauai, HI and worked for the state-run health system at Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital as a pediatrician in a critical access hospital. She was the Chair of Pediatrics in 2014 and Co-Chair of the Perinatal Committee 2011-2014. She opened a private pediatric practice on Kauai in 2015, which ended up closing in 2020 as a result of COVID-19. She accepted a position in Klamath Falls, OR, again working in an underserved area. In this position, she was again able to work with residents and realized how much she missed participating in medical education. Currently, she is employed by Bronson Healthcare Group as a newborn hospitalist. Her clinical interests are quite varied, and include neonatal medicine, pediatric hospital medicine, child and adolescent psych, asthma care and medical education.
