Laurence McCahill, MD, is a board-certified surgeon with the Department of Surgery at Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine. He is a graduate of Duke University School of Engineering, Durham, North Carolina where he earned his degree in Biomedical Engineering. He then attended Duke University School of Medicine where he earned his medical degree. He completed his general surgery residency and a surgical oncology research year at the University of Washington, Seattle, Washington. He then chose to pursue a fellowship in surgical oncology, and completed his fellowship at the City of Hope National Medical Center, Duarte, California.
Dr. McCahill spent four years on active duty in the United States Navy and completed his service at the rank of Commander, serving as Attending Surgeon at the US Naval Hospital at Okinawa, Japan, from 1996-1998, and serving as Attending Surgeon at the US Naval Hospital at Bremerton, Washington, from 1998-2000. He spent an additional two years in the United States Naval Reserve at the rank of Commander from 2000-2002.
Dr. McCahill's clinical interests include breast cancer, melanoma, endocrine surgery and gastrointestinal and hepatobiliary surgery. His research interest is health outcomes for breast cancer surgery and melanoma cancer treatment.
