Sara Ann Schugars, MD

Biosketch

Sara Schugars, MD, is a board certified obstetrician and gynecologist with Borgess Women's Health in Kalamazoo, Michigan. She is a graduate of Michigan State University, graduating with High Honors. She earned her medical degree from Michigan State University College of Human Medicine and was an AOA nominee. She completed her residency training through Grand Rapids Medical Education Center in Grand Rapids, Michigan, in a busy, community-based residency.

After residency, Dr. Schugars took a position as a general obstetrician/gynecologist in Big Rapids, Michigan, to serve a void in the rural community from 2009-2019. There she held the position of lead role for the rural health practice in the OB/GYN office and served on the hospital credentialing committee. She took a position in August of 2019 with Ascension Medical group and joined the Women's Health Department. Her clinical interests include working with under served populations of teens and women, obstetrical care, and laparoscopic and vaginal surgery.
