HeART of WMed art showcase features ‘outrageous’ talents of the WMed community

HeART of WMed 2020
This year’s HeART of WMed raised more than $600 for Healthy House, a Kalamazoo non-profit that supports women in need of a safe place to live while in recovery from substance use, mental health disorders, and homelessness.

As his band TYPO helped close out the 4th Annual HeART of WMed art showcase, Jeffrey Greene, PhD, summed up the night fittingly.

“The talent is outrageous in this building,” Dr. Greene, an assistant professor in the medical school’s Department of Medical Education said.

Indeed, students, faculty and staff from the medical school impressed with their array of talents during the art showcase, which was held on the evening of Friday, February, 28, at the W.E. Upjohn M.D. Campus.

The large crowd that attended the event was treated to delicious culinary creations, incredible visual arts and several live performances in the W.E. Upjohn M.D. Campus Auditorium. The live performance portion of the art showcase included several pieces, from great music and comedy skits to storytelling and dance.

This year’s HeART of WMed benefited Healthy House, a Kalamazoo non-profit that supports women in need of a safe place to live while in recovery from substance use, mental health disorders, and homelessness. Donations given at the event for Healthy House amounted to more than $600.
