The Center for Clinical Research was created in 2015 within WMed. Building on the expertise and experience of Borgess Research Institute and Bronson Research Services, these organizations transitioned to the medical school. Created to align with WMed’s mission committed to excellence and health equity, as well as to advance knowledge through innovation and discovery, the Center for Clinical Research brings experienced investigators, coordinators and other support staff to the conduct of clinical trials across multiple therapeutic areas.

Both partner hospitals have long-standing experience in conducting research. There is an established infrastructure to support successful research across therapeutic areas and development phases from early phase studies to post-marketing and registry studies. Research has been conducted here for 20 years and the community has a long history of pharmaceutical development as the original home of The Upjohn Company. We have worked with most major sponsors and with multiple CROs and have relationships with many central IRBs.

Through our collaboration with our community partners, we offer both inpatient and outpatient facilities. The partner healthcare systems see approximately 3 million patient visits annually and the range of services provided is comprehensive. Our patient population is both ethnically and economically diverse. WMed draws from a nine county area in southwestern Michigan with a population of 1.5 million residents. Physicians representing all major specialties and subspecialties serve the community and the region. State-of-the-art imaging facilities and laboratory services are available. The facilities are easily accessible by private vehicles and served by public transportation.
