Biosketch

Karen Garcia, DO, FAAP, is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine. She is Board Certified with the American Board of Pediatrics. She is employed by Grace Health. She received her undergraduate BS in Biology at the University of South Florida in May 2004. She earned her MD at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine - Bradenton Campus in June 2008. She did her postdoctoral training in the Department of Pediatrics at the Michigan State University/Kalamazoo Center for Medical Studies in June 2009. She also completed her residency in Pediatrics at Michigan State University Kalamazoo Center for Medical Studies in June 2012. She has worked as an outpatient Pediatrician at Grace Health (formerly Family Health Center of Battle Creek) and has worked as a Newborn Hospitalist through Bronson Battle Creek. She has a strong passion for education and has had the opportunity to work alongside medical students, residents and nurse practitioner students. She is currently pioneering Centering in Parenting at Grace Health. Her clinical and teaching interests include medical education, maternal and child health, and vulnerable populations.
