Micromyx LLC was one of the original client companies that started in the Innovation Center when it opened in the summer of 2003. Over the past 14 ½ years, Micromyx has grown from two ex-Pfizer research scientists with a dream and one 500 s.f. lab into a growing small business with sixteen employees and nine lab units. Micromyx is now an anchor tenant at the Innovation Center and Dr. Dean Shinabarger continues to engage with the other clients in the Center, serving as a role model and voice of experience.

“The WMed Innovation Center is a great place to do business,” says Micromyx CEO Dr. Dean Shinabarger.  “The building is in terrific condition and shows well for our clients.  In addition, the presence of other companies provides the opportunity for collaborations and networking.  Finally, the innovation center staff do a terrific job of working with both new and established companies to help them grow.”

It is the mix of fresh startups and more seasoned companies that enhances the supportive, collaborative environment at the Innovation Center. Leaders of brand new entities bring excitement and enthusiasm, while CEOs of more established firms provide perspective and advice. All are travelers on the entrepreneurial journey, and all have something to share. If you’re ready to start your journey, apply now at wmedic.wmed.wmich.edu
