On Saturday, April 1, 2023, the wmed.edu domain name went live for the medical school website and email addresses.
The move from med.wmich.edu to wmed.edu identifies WMed as an independent organization, provides a shorter, more memorable name and grants the medical school additional flexibility in its online presence.
The medical school’s Office of Communications and Information Technology team are partnering on the project, and both the old and new domains for the website and email can be used until October.
WMed faculty and staff have been notifying colleagues, listservs, memberships, associations, accrediting agencies and personal and professional social media platforms about the change, and the medical school’s Information Technology team is working with all applications that interact with email to switch to logins using the new domain.
The medical school’s Information Technology team has added a footer on all outbound emails to alert the recipients. WMed’s Office of Communications is in the process of updating social media platforms, letterhead, communications and print materials to reflect the new web address.
