WMed graduates to be honored May 9 during commencement ceremony at WMU’s Miller Auditorium

The MD Class of 2024 and students from the Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences and Medical Engineering degree programs at WMed will be honored in May during a commencement ceremony at WMU’s Miller Auditorium.

The ceremony is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 9, 2024. This is a free event and tickets are not required.

”This is an exceptional class that embraced many challenges as they came their way,” said Alex Carlson, director of Student Life and Well-Being. “We are so proud of the resilience and commitment that our students have shown and are thrilled to see what their future holds for them.”

The ceremony will feature remarks from the Hal B. Jenson, MD Dean Robert G. Sawyer, MD, Maria Sheakley, PhD, associate dean of Student Affairs, and Amy Shao, Class of 2024 student speaker.

The commencement address will be delivered by Saad B. Omer, MPH, PhD, MBBS, founding dean of the Peter O’Donnell Jr. School of Public Health at UT Southwestern Medical Center.

Following the commencement ceremony, attendees are invited to a reception in the Miller Auditorium lobby to cap off what will be a big day for the medical school, our students, their families, and the community.
